how it works
The Alaska Veterans Emergency (AVE) Fund is used to provide food, transportation, and laundry vouchers to veterans and their families in times of crisis. The Fund also helps low-income veterans acquire the clothing they need for work like jackets, boots, socks, and gloves. Low-income veterans can also receive assistance acquiring business attire that will ensure an effective job interview. If needed, we'll even provide transportation to your job interview. Veterans seeking assistance must be eligible to enroll in the VA Healthcare System. If applicable, you must work with a veteran service officer to apply for any benefits you are eligible to receive. Veterans seeking assistance are also expected to work with Coalition case managers to ensure a successful and lasting outcome. Use of AVE Funds is at the discretion of the Coalition's Board of Directors. While the fund may provide assistance of up $1,000 per household per year, the typical amount ranges between $100-$300. As funds are limited, we cannot approve every application for assistance.
