Mask Makers on JBER are on a mission
JOINT BASE ELMENDORF-RICHARDSON, Alaska --The Alaska Coalition for Veterans and Military Families, a non-profit group that provides social services and resources for Alaska veterans and military families, has been working to disseminate cloth face masks to active duty and National Guard service members, as well as first responders, their families and children of first responders in child care.
In just over two weeks, the group of primarily JBER spouses has provided about 3,000 masks to the Anchorage, JBER, Eagle River and Matanuska-Susitna communities.
Due to the high risk of potential exposure to the SARS-CoV-2 virus and in consideration for our Veterans and Military Families, we have made the decision to host this event online.
This was an incredibly difficult decision for us and it was not made lightly. We evaluated the population we serve, the highly contagious nature of the virus and the thousands of individuals who travel in and out of Alaska daily. We decided that it was necessary to mitigate the risk of exposure to more vulnerable populations within our community.
As a result of our decision, we have also rescheduled the Summit to 20-21 October 2020 and will be including a link to the summit event on this page.
At this time, there are no plans to cancel this event.
We have seen tremendous growth, which only demonstrates the incredible need our organization and this event are fulfilling.
