Case Manager/Social Worker
We are seeking a compassionate Case Manager/Social Worker to help serve Alaska's Service Members, Veterans, and their Families, most of whom are affected by issues such as poverty, homelessness, food insecurity, domestic violence, civil and criminal legal proceedings, mental health, and substance abuse. Cases are handled by phone, video conference, or in person as needed. You will assess clients and gather relevant information about their cases, provide crisis intervention, and contact and make referrals to other agencies and services.
A key to succeeding in this role is the ability to stay calm and empathize with clients when they are upset. You should also be aware of others’ reactions and understand why they react as they do.

- Must have college degree or must be currently enrolled in an accredited university and seeking a degree in psychology, social work or related field.
- Ability to give full attention to what social service clients are saying, understand the points being made, ask questions and not interrupt inappropriately.
- Awareness of others’ reactions and understanding why they react as they do.
- Ability to judge the relative costs and benefits of potential social service and health care actions and choose the most appropriate one.
- Comfortable using a computer for various tasks. Technological sufficiency is a must in this position.

Development & Communications Associate
The Development & Communications Associate plays an important role by providing administrative support to the Operations Director and Executive Director. The position participates in all fundraising activities including donor relations, marketing and communications, direct mail appeals, and special events.

- Process donations and prepare acknowledgement letters and other correspondence.
- Manage relationships on the database and communicate accordingly with various stakeholders (Board of Directors, Executive Director, and the Director of Operations) for updates.
- Maintain foundation, corporation and individual donor files (on the database and server).
- Conduct preliminary research on prospective corporate, foundation and individual donors.
- Maintain guest lists, gather and prepare registration materials and other duties as assigned for fundraising events.
- Collect and track volunteer hours
- Organize quarterly volunteer events in collaboration with the Executive Director
- Prospect and procure silent auction items for the annual event.
- Prepare media materials for distribution. (i.e. copying, filing, mailing, e-mailing)
- Assemble media and donor kits for events and meetings.
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements:
- Must be comfortable speaking on the phone
- Must have proficient writing skills
